Chino's vs. Khaki's

Okay so apparently there is some confusion when it comes to Chino's and the difference between Chino's and Khaki's. I didn't even know what Chino's were before today, so I decided to do some research. (Below is Docker's D1 Slim Leg Chino Pant— from Nordstrom)
CHINOS- Usually have a narrower cut of the legs. Made up of a blend of cotton and stretchy synthetic fibers. They are considered dressier than khaki's, but still not formal

KHAKIS- Are made from 100% cotton and are considered a standard American pant. They can usually be worn anywhere and with any type of shoe. They usually can be found in black, beige, navy and khaki colors.

Hopefully that clears any pant pandemonium you may be experiencing!

  1. No real difference; one company's chino is the same as another's khaki; leg tapering varies too widely for a firm name difference. And khaki is a color. There's no such thing as blue khakis.

  2. Agree with nazevad, khaki is a color, you can get chino pants and jeans both in khaki color, blue doesn't come anywhere near khaki, it is a totally different shade.

  4. Khakis and chinos are two varieties of fabrics. They are cotton fabrics. There is no difference in between them. Military uniforms are made out of these fabrics. Vintage style Military Twill Pants are the most familiar staple made out of this wardrobe.
