As I was looking through one of my favorite fashion blogs Sea of Shoes I saw that she discovered this BEAUTIFUL eyeshadow palette by Tarte for True Blood, it is limited edition at Sephora

Now, I'm definitely a drug store makeup kind of girl, but this palette is so gorgeous and its SO worth it. On the site it says its a $331 dollar value for only $52. Not only does it come with the eyeshadow, it includes eyeliner, mascara, AND primer. I HAVE to get this. Its totally something my favorite Vampire, Pam would wear ;)

Here's a little more J. I don't mean to be a dick but when 48% of Men on the Ask Men 2011 survey say they would break up with their current girlfriend if she got fat is no joke. Conversely only 20% of women would break up with their man if he got fat. Obviously theres a difference here and its big but don't let it happen to you, I'm not saying you should go on a crazy diet or be "thin" I'm saying you HAVE to take care of your body. There is nothing that is a bigger turn off to me than a lazy woman. I despise lazy men as friends because that (pardon my french) shit is infectious.

My Back to School Must Haves

Welp summer is winding down and it is time for me to get my butt back to the 'burg. So, I thought I would compile a list of things that I PERSONALLY want (not necessarily whats "in"). So enjoy :)

It rains a lot in Williamsburg. I already have 2 pairs of high rainboots. But I REALLLLY want some like these. This particular one is from Hunter and is $150. Pricey, yes. But In the long run I think it's worth it. They also have some at L.L. Bean for a lot less, but not as cute (in my opinion)

Over the knee boots were a HUGE thing last fall, and I still love them. I have a pair of cream leather ones but I want some brown suede ones. I really like the outfit above, its cute and effortlessly casual which helps it to still stand out.The Cross body bag. I did a post earlier about them, and I still love them. Its probably one of the greatest accessories a girl can have because it can compliment your outfit AND still hold all the stuff you don't want to carry around! Theres a plethora at forever21
PRINTS! When it comes to prints I am literally a fiend. I can't get enough. I feel that with a print, your outfit is never really "blah," (with the right amount of course.)
HATS. I don't know what has gotten into me lately, my inner tomboy I guess. But I'm becoming obsessed with hats. I have a redskins snapback, a neon green snapback that says "SWAG" a Washington Nationals hat and a green polo one that I adore. I definitely won't stop there.
The Denim shirt/ Chambray. I had one when I was like 6, it was a cute little joutfit actually (jean outfit), and now they're becoming more popular. I feel as if they aren't pair with jeans then your fine, but who knows what some people are capable of pulling off these days. I have one similar to this from J. Crew

Cut out Body-Con dresses. I cannot get enough of these, and they are everywhere. Perfect attention getter at a party for those of you who loooove attention.

I hope this was helpful for anyone looking for help. These are things that I just personally love and will be purchasing before school begins :)

Impact of Netflix price hike

Here's an article/survey that has some pretty bad news for Netflix..

Netflix could shed as many as 2.5 million paying customers as a result of its recent move to significantly increase the monthly cost of its DVDs-by-mail rental service. Netflix announced earlier this month that it would be adjusting its monthly rate plans. Whereas subscribers had been able to stream unlimited digital content and receive DVD rentals by mail for as little as $9.99 per month, Netflix’s new combination plans start at $15.98 per month, a 60% increase. Research firm TDG polled 500 Netflix customers who subscribed to DVD and streaming combination plans at the time Netflix announced the price hike. Based on the results of that survey, TDG estimates that Netflix stands to lose between 12% and 15% of combo plan subscribers within the next six months due to the new plan pricing. That would translate to between 2 million and 2.5 million subscribers — or a minimum of nearly $240 million annually. Many subscribers who might stay around also say they intend to switch off of their current combo plans; 34% told TDG they will switch to a streaming-only plan and 44% said they will opt for a DVD-only plan. Netflix warned investors during its earnings call that the rate plan changes could have a negative impact on its business in the near term.

I REFUSE to talk politics on this blog.. However, I do believe in bringing up social issues that effect the youth.. I am a 24 year old government worker who attends graduate school.. I am not rich and I work hard for my money and even have a 2nd job.. One of the reasons I am forced to work overtime is because I pay a shit ton of money every check out to taxes.. Literally over 25%! I am not saying this for sympathy.. I know plenty of people work harder and work for less than I do.. They have the most loopholes and the best accountants in the world and they get away with murder.. while the hard working middle class give away what could be disposable income that could be pumped back in the Economy on taxes.. It was only a matter of time before this tour was announced. This tour has the possibility to go down in history. I have seen both of these artists perform live and they have never disappointed. I am expecting Hova to have a live band and Kanye to have plenty of stage props. I will be in attendance at the 9/29 show at the Verizon center and you can be sure there will be footage of this historic concert right here at JMHO.

Google + catching up to Facebook?

We here at JMHO all have a Google + and are becoming more familiar with it each day. There is a lot of potential there but I still feel they have a long day before they "catch" facebook. But, only time will tell. I hope this brings out the best in these two social media giants and we all benefit from the friendly competition.

Henny- Bit Faster

In a post I made last week saying Henny would deliver some new music, and here it is! I am really impressed with this song and this is a great way to start off the new cycle of music. Really good delivery and a great beat. I can see this being played at clubs and house parties all over the DMV and beyond.

Amy Winehouse was definitely one of my favorite singers and I was really hoping she could make a comeback. She has such a soulful voice and I could not stop listening to her album Back to Black when it came out. I guess she will join the "27 club" along with Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin. This is so sad, RIP Amy.

Brandon Rios v Urbano Antilion

After all that publicity that I put on the site about the DUD that was the July 2nd Heavyweight unification bout.. I thought it was only right to put one of my favorite fights of the year on the site.. This fight happened last week and because it was between 2 up and coming fighters I didn't give it the promo it deserved.. That's a lot of the problem with boxing, most of the hungrier unproven fighters tend to fight with more reckless abandon and have more entertaining fights but just get no promo.. This is a perfect example of 2 sluggers fighting to move up into the primetime pay-per-view ranks of the sport.. What ensues is a 3 round brawling slugfest.. ENJOY

Spotify - The iTunes Killer?

I'm not sure if I agree with the title but Spotify is def something to check out and keep an eye on in the coming months. It offers a lot of services and perks that iTunes doesn't offer.. I'm not too fond of calling anything an Apple killer because the loyalty that Apple fans posses is as strong as any other company.. I am going to try this out and drop my own thoughts later

As I'm slowly coming down from my "Gucci Gucci," high, I wanted to see what Kreayshawn has next. I found a song called "Rich Whores" that was posted on youtube...

Its definitely not as good as "Gucci Gucci," its kind of annoying actually. She has some good lines in there— "Honestly, I'm probably a bonafide problem child/ I was born with hella steez/ You had to go buy your style." But there aren't as many ones where I'm like "DAAAAAMN!" like in "Gucci Gucci." But decide for yourself!

HARRY. EFFIN. POTTER

Okay here we have it folks. My final Harry Potter post. (Skip after the picture to get a review of the movie). SOOOO, most people know, Harry Potter fans are CRAY CRAY! We go early to stand in line, dress up, do HP trivia— the works. Usually I go to stand in line around 8pm, but I figured since this was the last :'( one I better start the party early. Me and my friends got to the theater at 6:12pm on the nose. We we're the 12th people in line. LOL I've literally never felt like such a loser but yet, so proud at the same time. I don't think its all about the glitz and glam and who has the best character costume that shows what a fan you are— I think the dedication for how long you can stand in line, how many times you've read the books, the characters who you love and will never EVER forget truly makes you a fan. That really may sound corny but honestly... Harry Potter has so many great life lessons, its not even funny.

Let me start by saying— THIS WAS LITERALLY THE BEST HARRY POTTER MOVIE EVER. I have only seen two people complain so far. It was the first movie for me that was just as good as the books and made me feel the same emotions. For example (**SPOILER**) In HP 7 the book, when Dobby died I CRIED... However in the movie I literally giggled a little. However in HP 7 pt 2, the only thing I wish they would have spent more time/ emotion on was Fred's death. Snape dying and the subsequent pensive scene where Harry sees that Snape was truly on his side this whole time had me crying like a BABY. Literally— I haven't cried that hard in months... and thats saying something because I never cry. Everyone was just so badass in this movie— ESPECIALLY Professor McGonagall. I don't want to give too much away but I will see this at least two more times.

It hasn't sunk in that its all over, well it kind of has... I think I'm going to cry again

Shaq Joins "Inside the NBA" on TNT

The nearly perfect TNT show Inside The NBA has added retired superstar Shaquille O’Neal to its studio crew.

CNBC’s Darren Rovell tweeted the news over the weekend.

TNT has yet to confirm the hiring. But if and when they do, the network will embark on the grand experiment of putting two larger than life personalities in the same room and hoping disaster doesn’t ensue.

Charles Barkley has played the role of the eclectic, outspoken, sometimes hard to understand analyst for the last several years. We’ll see if he’s forced to alter his shtick to make room for Shaq, or if Shaq lets the him do his thing by staying relatively quiet and sane.

As popular and entertaining as Shaq is, his presence may upset the strong chemistry between Barkley, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith that makes the show so good.

This is also a victory for TNT in its outgoing battle with ESPN. The sports media monolith surely had to be in the mix to sign Shaq. But it appears they have fallen further behind Turner by losing out on the summer's biggest broadcasting free-agent.

ESPN’s NBA studio team lags far behind TNT’s in terms of chemistry and entertainment value. No matter how good or bad an analyst Shaq proves to be, there's no doubt he could have been the shakeup that ESPN's crew sorely needs.

I could give two hoots about Shaq joining to be honest.. Not to say he doesn't have a presence or isn't one of my favorite bball personalities.. It's just I am more concerned about what happens to Chris Webber.. Chris Webber is one of the top two analyst on television currently.. The only person I would put in his category is Steve Kerr.. I think Kerr is a slept on analyst because he doesn't have that "wow" factor but when it comes to in game adjustments and pure knowledge he is the crem de la crem.. The set is not going to be able to fit 5 people on the set so that leaves Webber the odd man out.. Here's to hoping a press release comes in the following days that announces the plans for C.Webb

New iPhone Software x FaceTime to TV

With iOS 5 Beta 3, you can mirror your FaceTime call onto a larger display. This is very exciting news to all of my iPhone people as FaceTime is the cream of the cake in the smart phone industry. Just imagine in a year or so this will become a lot more normal that we see people through our phones. I can see this taking off in a business sense also because it will be cheaper for companies to use something like an iPhone to conduct organizational meetings than buy thousands of dollars worth of software when all you will need is a smart phone and a TV.

I'm not a fan of this price hike and I am seriously considering canceling my Netflix all together.. With the emergence of HBO Go I haven't been watching nearly as much streaming Netflix and I only get 1-2 movies a month shipped to me.. I really have to weigh the options.. Movie Watch: Old Boy x Spike Lee

It has come to my attention that film maker Spike Lee is the new director behind a favorite film of mine and he will be doing a remake of the 2003 Korean Flim Old Boy which if you havent seen it by now, go find it stat! (that's doctor slang for right away)


Brief Synopsis: The movie tells the story of a man who was kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years and doesn't know why. After he's released he tries to find out why he was locked away and then learns that his kidnapper has got more torture in store for him. "Thor" and "I Am Legend" screenwriter Mark Protosevich is penning the script for the adaptation

Not to insult your intelligence of course but I also speak very highly of this film and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good movie that has heart, a good story and of course some kick-ass action sequences.


I am really looking forward to this adaptation since Will Smith and Steven Spielberg were trying to make this back in 2008 but ran into politics. Now for those of you that are complaining that adaptations ruin the movies, you have to remember that the Korean film was adapted from a Japanese comic so take off them hater goggles and stay tuned...

Okay, I know we've all heard rumors about this and have prayed every single night that its true... oh wait, thats just me? Okay, well, anywho IT IS TRUE— 90s shows are coming back on teen nick. Sadly this will probably be at the shit crack of dawn, but at least its happening. However, Teen Nick is a little late on this train/ I don't know why this is SUCH a big deal because nicktoons has been playing 90s cartoons from 1am-6am (roughly) for a while now. So I've been getting my Rocko's Modern Life, CatDog and Rugrats fix for a while now

Quite frankly, ladies, if you don't have your bikini bodies by now, its a little late. HOWEVER after reading an article in SELF Magazine, I learned about these two fitness guru's Karena and Katrina from tone it up they have a diet plan and great workouts.. sadly the diet plan costs money, but I have found a loophole for exercises thanks to the goodness of youtube.

PS4?

There has been a crazy rumor circulating today that the PS4 will be coming out in Fall 2012. I think this claim is propitious and there is absolutely no way in hell the PS4 comes out next year. I even think 2013 is a stretch in terms of a release date. The system is still $300 and they will def have AT LEAST 1 more price drop before a successor is announced. Sony also is releasing the PSVita this year and should want a few years to promote the new portable system alone. I am not gaming analyst but I am pretty damn sure that these rumors are cockamamie! lol if you don't believe me listen to the new Sony president talk about the PS3 life-cycle during an interview just last week.

AT&T iPhone Insurance!!

I have been a proud iPhone user for over 3 years now, and one of the downfalls was the lack of insurance.. But for AT&T customers it has finally changed! Read the release below

AT&T has informed customers that the iPhone (all models) will be eligible for their Mobile Insurance program starting on July 17th. AT&T's mobile insurance program offers protection against loss, theft, accidental physical or liquid damage and mechanical and/or electrical failure. The program costs $4.99/month and a $50 or $125 deductible for each claim depending on the particular model.

*Please Note: AT&T Mobile Insurance Update: Effective July 17, 2011, the Apple iPhone (all models) will be eligible for coverage with the AT&T Mobile Insurance program (formerly Wireless Phone Insurance). Enrollment restrictions apply. Customers can only enroll within 30 days of a new activation or upgrade, prior activations or upgrades outside of 30 days are not eligible.
AT&T has long treated iPhones differently than other devices on their network when it comes to insurance. The original iPhone was unable to be insured at all from AT&T. Then in 2010, AT&T partnered with an external company to offer more expensive coverage for the iPhone at $11.99/month and $199 deductible.

The choice of getting any insurance at all is always up for debate -- especially since Apple is known to replace accidentally broken and out-of-warranty iPhones for a flat $199 repair fee, though this doesn't cover loss or theft.

AT&T may not have the Verizon service but with the iPhone screen being made of glass this gives them a great bargaining chip when deciding what carrier is best for your new iPhone 5 that comes out later this year
