The Voice Finale

YESSS!! Javier Colon was announced winner of "The Voice" last night. He was the favorite from the very beginning, with all four judges turning around and wanting them on his team during the audition round

However this was not Javier's first time at the rodeo. He actually had a hit on the billboard charts. It was actually a favorite of mine back in the day, its called "Crazy."

Obviously he's very talented and deserves it! Hopefully his career will finally blossom!

Asteroid BARELY misses Earth

I don't believe in this 2012 mumbo jumbo.. but for those of you that do here is another thing for you to fear in the next year.. a giant asteroid colliding with the earth.. Here is an article from the Washington Post describing how we just missed a catastrophe.. Even though this asteroid was nowhere near the size of the one that "killed the dinosaurs" I'm sure the end of the world stans can get something out of this..

A newly discovered asteroid estimated about 30 feet in size and named “2011 MD” will pass by the Earth over the south Atlantic around 1 p.m. EDT today missing a direct hit by only 7500 miles. In the vastness of space of the inner the solar system, this is considered a really close call – less than about 3% of the distance between Earth and the moon and visible even with a small telescope. An even closer encounter occurred earlier this year when another small asteroid missed the earth by just 3400 miles.

Asteroids coming this close cross through the zone of geosynchronous satellites (such as the GOES series), but the chances of a collision are extremely small, though not zero.

Small asteroids such as these are difficult to discover and, indeed, each of these latest occurrences was detected only within a week of the closest approach. Once identified, they can be readily tracked. According to NASA. there was never a chance either of recent near-misses was headed directly towards Earth

If they did make contact with Earth, it would not be especially unusual. Objects of this size would likely just produce a brilliant fireball with only small fragments landing in the ocean or crashing into the ground (hopefully not hitting anyone on the head). It’s estimated that there are nearly a billion objects this size or somewhat larger in near-Earth space. But on average such an object is expected to come this close to Earth about every 6 years.

Fortunately, asteroid strikes, especially those large enough to have disastrous consequences to life on earth (as, for example, the 112 mile wide asteroid which presumably led to the dinosaur’s demise of 65 million years ago), are few and far between. But no doubt they would be discovered and tracked years before any possible impact with Earth. Scientists consider asteroids as potentially hazardous only if their size is larger than 490 feet in width. A 900 foot asteroid is expected to pass within 18,000 miles of earth in 2029. Fear not, because the odds of it actually hitting the Earth are greater than 250,000 to 1.

Intermediate-size asteroids - larger than the latest two near misses - capable of serious damage to life and human dependent infrastructure, are a more frequent threat. But they too are likely to be observed and followed with long-lead times in the unlikely event they are aimed directly at Earth.

“Likely”, but not with complete certainty! On March 2, 2009 an asteroid about 200 feet wide buzzed by Earth only a few days after being discovered. Its closest approach was 40,000 miles, seemingly a safe distance, but a close call in astronomical terms. Had it struck the earth it would have exploded with the force of a large nuclear bomb on or just about the surface – with ONLY 3 days notice.

However, concern should not be overblown relative to, for example, the odds and consequences of a major geomagnetic storm. Even if an asteroid this size were headed directly towards earth with little warning, it’s more than likely it would explode somewhere over the large expanses of Earth’s oceans than some highly populated metropolitan area.

Post script: Although the chances of the Earth being struck by a large asteroid (or comet) are extremely small, the consequences would be disastrous. Last year a bill was introduced into Congress to establish a government-sponsored commission to study the danger of a collision with Earth and how ready we are to face the danger. The bill never became law. In a worst case scenario, I guess we can get Bruce Willis stand in to save the Earth as in the movie thriller, Armageddon.

Yes, yes we all know— Beyonce headlined Glastonbury this weekend. But its one BIG EFFIN DEAL! She is the first woman to do so, and I can't think of a better woman for the job. I could literally go on for days about how much I love her. But I will spare you all and just say— Beyonce is FABULOUS, CLASSY, BEAUTIFUL and she doesn't need gimmicks like Lady GaGa (even though I love me some Lady GaGa). She is the epitome of a superstar and... I just love her!

Space Bound

Here's the newly released music video for Eminem's song Space Bound. I'm kind of torn about the video/ song. I actually like the song more than a lot of his songs, and the video is surprise surprise, violent and depressing. His songs are deep, but honestly, is he ALWAYS depressed?! I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way because I know all my friends love him, and I'm not disputing his talent, I'm just sick of his winey/depressing raps. This Weekend I watched this amazing 2010 documentary called "Catfish." After watching the movie, it made me rethink social networking, especially facebook. You always hear about the creeps but you never think the product of their creepiness with be impressed upon you. That is what happened to Nev, a photographer from New York. Without giving away too much of the movie, he is in a long distance relationship with Megan, the older sister of an eight year old art prodigy that paints pictures of Nev's photos... at least thats what he thinks... This movie is DEFINITELY a MUST WATCH

I could write 5,000 words about how much I love this app! To keep this short and sweet I can only sum it up one way: My Favorite App Ever



This is a must get for HBO subscribers.. To be able to watch all of your favorite HBO shows streaming at anytime is phenomenal.. There has been so many times I want to go back and re-watch earlier series but on-demand only has 5-10 episodes at a time.. With this app all those problems are resolved.. I truly love the netflix app as well, but the quality of HBO sitcoms and championship boxing pushes this app to the top of my list.. Not only do you get every show from every series you get, world championship boxing, documentaries, and the racy late night shows. There is a downside to this app however.. You can not hook it up to your TV yet, even with proper cords. Laptop and Tablet users this shouldn't be a big deal but trying to watch long shows on your phone can be a strain on your eyes.. Once the app gets this upgrade I will have absolutely no complaints.

She just came out with the announcement today and NO its not another Harry Potter book, but its probably the next best thing!

Apple Inc. (AAPL) plans to introduce a new iPhone in September that boasts a stronger chip for processing data and a more advanced camera, according to two people familiar with the product.

The device will include the A5 processor, the more powerful chip that Apple added to the iPad 2 earlier this year, along with an 8-megapixel camera, up from the 5-megapixel model in the iPhone 4, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the details aren’t public. Apple is also testing a new version of the iPad that has a higher resolution screen, similar to the one now used in the iPhone 4, one of the people said.

The iPhone is Apple’s top seller, accounting for half of revenue last quarter. A faster chip will enable speedier loading of programs and help the device vie with handsets being introduced by rivals such as Samsung Electronics Co. that are powered by Google Inc. (GOOG)’s Android software. The iPhone’s gains versus the BlackBerry partly explain why Research In Motion Ltd. (RIM) last week forecast its first-ever quarterly sales decline.

The new phone will run the iOS 5 operating system Apple previewed at a developer’s conference this month. Codenamed “Telluride,” it will feature already-announced features such as improved messaging and photo-sharing, one person said. It’s also designed to run on all of Apple’s mobile devices, this person said. Until late last year, iPads, iPhones and iPod touches used slightly different versions of iOS.

Natalie Kerris, a spokeswoman for Cupertino, California- based Apple, declined to comment.

Remember a few weeks back we posted a USTREAM where Cole stated he would be sampling a Kanye Single for his single; where here it is. I don' really have any thought's positive or negative on this song as of yet. When you are dropping a major label debut I understand you are trying to "dumb it down" or "make a hit" so let's see how the masses accept this song. However, for his 2nd single I hope and expect to see that deep introspective Cole that got him his notoriety.

For all you ladies out there trying to get in shape, This is the app for you! I just downloaded the Nike Training App today and I am BEYOND impressed— quite frankly I cannot believe its free!

So first you start off by choosing your goal. You can choose to: Get lean, Get toned, Get strong or Get focused. Once you pic, you pick whether you're at the beginning, intermediate or advanced stage. And after that you can choose your workout. There are so many and they each come with a high quality video example.

One of my favorite parts of this app so far is that once you do your workout and can "Set Music." They already have your iTunes playlists and songs on the app for you!! I have a "workout" playlist so that's perfect!

The more workouts you do, the more rewards you get. The rewards are unlocking new workouts, which is just unfathomable because there are so many already.

Super 8

I literally JUST got back home from seeing Super 8 and it was a great movie. I would definitely give it an 8/10. There were no major flaws in this movie, but it was lacking something. If I had to compare this to any other movie it would be a mash up of District 9 and ET. I really love that the kids were the heroes and despite the fact that the movie followed them the whole time— I believe it transcends all ages. It was VERY suspenseful— much like the previews, you don't know what the "something" upsetting the flow of the whole town is until 3/4 of the way through the movie. It had action (lots of explosions and gunfire, boys) and just about everything a good movie needs: humor, love, etc. I was just expecting it to be a bit bigger, it was a little flat at the ending for me.

All in all, I say definitely go see it, it was a cute movie.

Just after I tweeted yesterday about how I needed some new Drake, I awoke today to find a new track "Marvin's Room" has been dropped. No word yet on whether this will be on Take Care (Dropping October 24th), or it was just released for the fans much like "Dreams Money Can Buy" but count me in as a fan of this track. "Marvin's Room" is all R&B Drake (Think Karaoke) until the end where he drops a verse. While some people hate on the deeper, singing, Drake I feel that they just can't relate to the stuff he says. Mayweather v Ortiz

Floyd Mayweather will return Sept 17 at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium to fight Vicious Victor Ortiz. For all the Many Pacquiao fans out there, look who he is fighting at this point of his career: Old washed up fighters. Floyd, despite not fighting as often, goes for an up and coming fighter in his prime to make his return to the ring. This fight will be for the WBC Welterweight title and should be a great bout. I am not confident one way or the other about the winner. I did not think Victor Ortiz could beat Berto and he showed tremendous grit in doing so. I will make my prediction in the weeks leading up to the fight. I am so pumped that boxing has a great lineup for this summer/fall season and look for some more posts about this sport in the coming months, esp because there is no certainty on the NFL season for 2011/2012.

Wii U

The successor to the Wii has been announced and it's called the "Wii U" I don't know what to think about it yet, but I will say it is very innovative. I was a little skeptical about motion gaming back when the Wii came out in 2006. Now every major system has implemented some form of motion controls. So, I will wait till I actually see/play the system before I judge.

I need to running shoes, and I've been debating for a while which ones I should get. There is a minimalist trend going on in the running world, and these Reebok Realflex's caught my eye. They are supposed to give you the feel and motion of natural running (barefoot) but with protection.

iTunes Hacked Widespread

They say not all news is good news and this cant be good attention to have during the WWDC. I fully expect Apple to comment after the conclusion of the conference. Investigations seem to suggest that attackers have primarily targeted users that had credit balances with iTunes.

Drew Church was another reader that reported being victimized in the Kingdom Conquest scam. In his case, his credit balance was wiped out by the in-app purchasing. He reported that no one knew his Apple ID save for his spouse. Church is an IT administrator by day, so certainly he'd understand the risks.

Another IT professional, Barry Scheelar, reported in, although his personal experience was different. After being given a $100 iTunes card, Scheelar added it to the account. In less than 24 hours, however, all but $.60 of it had been spent by someone overseas.

In all cases, Apple refunded the users' lost balances with little trouble. However, no reason has ever been given for what may be happening -- and issues with gift cards on iTunes have existed for at least two years. At that time counterfeit cards gave hackers a way to obtain the account credentials of those tricked into purchasing the cards.

Pete Rock/QTip show last Saturday

I was at a Pete Rock/QTip DJ show last Saturday in Brooklyn NYC and had the time of my life. The music was great, the building was full of people, and everyone was having fun. Besides getting a chance to meet QTip & Large Pete Rock, I also got to meet Large Professor & Lil Shawn. It was an awesome experience and I had so much fun I figured I would share a couple pictures I took with my shitty camera.

As you can probably tell from the pictures, it was a good night for everyone involved. Even though technically Q-Tip and Pete were working, it didnt seem like it. They were having fun, the crowd was having fun, and that night will forever be remembered by me. If you ever get a chance to see Tip and Pete DJing together, DO NOT miss it. It was a lot of fun and if I'm in the area when they do another show, I WILL be there.

Mark Jackson New Warriors Coach

I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little bit sad that one of my favorite commentaters in the game will not be returning for the 2011-2012 season, but I think it is a great hire for the Golden State Warriors. While Mark has no formal coaching experience, he was one of the smartest and toughest point guards of the 1990's and will have no trouble being a leader for this promising young team and taking them to the next step. I wish him nothing but success in the future, even if that means keeping him from behind the mic. Here are a few of my favorite clips during his time as a player, and announcer, HE WILL BE MISSED.

To me, any Kendrick Lamar footage is good footage, espeically when we all can learn more about the man behind the music. Notoriously private in the industry, Kendrick opens up in this video about his youth, his love for basketball, as well as his current situation with deciding on a record company to sign with and working with Dre on Detox. Check this video out, it runs a little long at 17 minutes but it is worth it if you got some time.

It's crazy to believe that these guys have already given "The Cookup" the video treatment, only a few days of dropping it to the public. That's really some #nodaysoff type ish right there.... WWDC thoughts

Every single "major" feature that was shown for the iOS 5 is well received on this side. I can't say enough about how many times I've wanted to snap a quick picture and was unable to because of the many touches it takes to unlock my screen and get to the app then snap the picture. The functionality of the new locksreen is something I am really looking forward to. The new notification's are brilliant. No matter how insignificant the text message and how important the the level of Angry Birds you're playing the text message always takes precedent. NOW instead of stopping me in the middle of my game a small message appears on the top. There is a lot to be happy about here and as soon as there is a demo version available it will be posted.

So, through the other blogs that I read, I found this wonderful little website called Pintrest. Basically you "pin" your "interests.." haha.. get it? Anyway, its a great way to keep your interests organized. You request to join and then when you make an account, you are given pintrest boards. They can deal with whatever you want— books, fashion, cooking, interior decor, etc. I'm addicted to it already. Example below.
