Jay Electronica-Dimethyltryptamine

New Jay Electronica video. The song has him rapping over a Dilla beat. The same beat that was used on the 2nd half of MF DOOM's "Gazillion Ear" track. Regardless, its a dope track and I'm still waiting for Jay to release a damn album.

Thurnis Haley 2

Cover for Goblin

More Thurnis Haley! Goblin drops in 12 days and I will be at the store picking this one up. I respect ODD Future and Tyler to the extreme. These young men are 20 y/o and they have so much business savvy. They are possibly going to sign a major label deal w/ Sony with 100% creative control and full rights over their music. In this industry that is unheard of. I have to salute them for fighting for their rights and whether or not they sign the deal I hope more artists do the same when it comes to negotiating for their deals.

Eminem & Royce Da 5'9-Fast Lane

Well another Royce/Em track has been released. The shit is dope too. I'm actually looking forward to their EP release. Both artists sound very focused. Check out "Fast Lane"

ITS FINALLY HERE!!

Okay, all you Potterheads... Try not to pee yourself because thats what I'm currently working on at the moment. THIS is the epic trailer of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. I am so beyond excited for this movie to come out, and this trailer just gave me the chills, made me smile, and had me tearing up all in the 2 minuets it graced my eyes.

ENJOY!

Masta Ace

Longevity in hip-hop is something that seems to be very hard to obtain. It seems that every day there is a new artist with a hit single that become famous for a few months and then is never heard from again. That's why I wanted to focus on someone that has been around since the late 80s and is still releasing consistently dope music. Enter, Masta Ace.

Back in the late 80s, Ace was a member of the legendary Juice Crew with artists like Craig G, Kool G Rap, and Big Daddy Kane. He made his recording debut on what is now considered a classic posse cut, "The Symphony."

Afterwards he was able to release his first album called "Take A Look Around"

and while I feel the album sounds a bit dated these days, there's still some classic jams on there like the single "Me & The Biz."

Funny thing about this track is that people thought Biz was on the track when in actually Masta Ace is impersonating Biz Markie throughout the track because Biz couldn't make it to the studio.

After that album, Ace moved over to Delicious Vinyl to release his 2nd album, "Slaughtahouse."

This time with a crew called Masta Ace Inc (Ace, Lord Digga, Paula P, Eyecurokk, & Leschea). Even with this crew, this was still Masta Ace's show and he made sure to drop a great album with a more harder edge to his sound. Check out the track "Slaughterhouse" where he parodies the ridiculously over the top gangsta raps that were being released at the time.

Also check out "Saturday Nite Live"

2 years later he released one of my favorite albums, "Sittin On Chrome."

Check out "The INC Ride"

"Born To Roll" is another classic jam off the album. It was originally a bonus track that was featured on SlaughtaHouse as a remix to the track "Jeep Ass Niguh"

and one more classic jam "Sittin On Chrome"

After a 5-6 year hiatus where Ace was only randomly releasing singles, he came back on sounding like a mature, seasoned veteran on his concept album "Disposable Arts."

There's too many dope tracks on this album (like all of his albums) for me to list them all. But heres a few choice cuts that I fuck with.

3 years later, he released yet another dope concept album called "A Long Hot Summer."

More dope cuts below

Since this album, Ace has only released group projects like eMC (Ace, Punchline, Wordsworth, & Strick), a collabo album with Edo G, and random appearances on other artists albums like producer Marco Polo's "Port Authority" album on a song titled "Nostalgia"

Thats just a brief look at Ace's career. Obviously if you want to get a full view of it, do some of your own research and listen to his albums.

The reason I posted this was to pay respect and to show what an artist with a long successful career sounds like. People may say Ace is wack fom changing his style from his first album to his 2nd one, but I honestly believe that was how his mindset was at the time. If you listen to his albums in order, it's almost like growing up with the guy. It also proves that to stay relevant in hip-hop, not only do you need to consistantly release dope material, you need to allow yourself to grow. Keeping yourself in a box sounding the exact same as when you came out will only lead you to failure.

PSN (cont'd)

Here is Sony's OFFICIAL statements via a Q&A session on the PS Blog

Q: Are you working with law enforcement on this matter?
A: Yes, we are currently working with law enforcement on this matter as well as a recognized technology security firm to conduct a complete investigation. This malicious attack against our system and against our customers is a criminal act and we are proceeding aggressively to find those responsible.

Q: Was my personal data encrypted?
A: All of the data was protected, and access was restricted both physically and through the perimeter and security of the network. The entire credit card table was encrypted and we have no evidence that credit card data was taken. The personal data table, which is a separate data set, was not encrypted, but was, of course, behind a very sophisticated security system that was breached in a malicious attack.

Q: Was my credit card data taken?
A: While all credit card information stored in our systems is encrypted and there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained. Keep in mind, however that your credit card security code (sometimes called a CVC or CSC number) has not been obtained because we never requested it from anyone who has joined the PlayStation Network or Qriocity, and is therefore not stored anywhere in our system.

Q: What steps should I take at this point to help protect my personal data?
A: For your security, we encourage you to be especially aware of email, telephone, and postal mail scams that ask for personal or sensitive information. Sony will not contact you in any way, including by email, asking for your credit card number, social security number or other personally identifiable information. If you are asked for this information, you can be confident Sony is not the entity asking. When the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services are fully restored, we strongly recommend that you log on and change your password. Additionally, if you use your PlayStation Network or Qriocity user name or password for other unrelated services or accounts, we strongly recommend that you change them, as well. To protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss, we encourage you to remain vigilant, to review your account statements and to monitor your credit reports.

Q: What if I don’t know which credit card I’ve got attached to my PlayStation Network account?
A: If you’ve added funds to your PlayStation Network wallet in the past, you should have received a confirmation email from “DoNotReply@ac.playstation.net” at the email address associated with your account. This email would have been sent to you immediately after you added the funds, and will contain the first 4 digits and last 4 digits of your credit card number. You can also check your previous credit card statements to determine which card was attached to your PlayStation Network or Qriocity accounts.

Q: When or how can I change my PlayStation Network password?
A: We are working on a new system software update that will require all users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. We will provide more details about the new update shortly.

Q: Have all PlayStation Network and Qriocity users been notified of the situation?
A: In addition to alerting the media and posting information about it on this blog, we have also been sending emails directly to all 77 million registered accounts. It takes a bit of time to send that many emails, and recognize that not every email will still be active, but this process has been underway since yesterday. At this time, the majority of emails have been sent and we anticipate that all registered accounts will have received notifications by April 28th. Consumers may also visit www.us.playstation.com/support and www.qriocity.com for notices regarding this issue. In addition, we have taken steps to disseminate information regarding this issue to media outlets so that consumers are informed.

Q: What steps is Sony taking to protect my personal data in the future?
A: We’ve taken several immediate steps to add protections for your personal data. First, we temporarily turned off PlayStation Network and Qriocity services and, second, we are enhancing security and strengthening our network infrastructure. Moving forward, we are initiating several measures that will significantly enhance all aspects of PlayStation Network’s security and your personal data, including moving our network infrastructure and data center to a new, more secure location, which is already underway. We will provide additional information on these measures shortly.

Q: Has Sony identified the party or parties responsible for the PlayStation Network hack and subsequent theft of personal information?
A: We are currently conducting a thorough investigation of the situation and are working closely with a recognized technology security firm and law enforcement in order to find those responsible for this criminal act no matter where in the world they might be located.

Q: When will the PlayStation Network and Qriocity be back online?
A: Our employees have been working day and night to restore operations as quickly as possible, and we expect to have some services up and running within a week from yesterday. However, we want to be very clear that we will only restore operations when we are confident that the network is secure.

I could honestly see this going on for weeks. I want my information safe and that is the most important thing. but COT DAMN I wanna be able to whoop some ass in some 2k11 or COD!

Senor Kaos X Fresh Daily

Just some of my dope tracks of the day. These sick tracks make me feel better.

Til Your Dead - Senor Kaos

Does anyone know the sampled for the refrain used in Til Your Dead?

Yes - Fresh Daily

Stic.Man of Dead Prez - The Workout

Since I'm trying to get back in the gym myself I've been lookin' for some inspiration.

At first I didn't get it, why did this video have a bunch of half naked showing off but this is probably the most inspiring video I've seen in a long while. It references everything from Tookie Williams, "The gripping tale of personal revolution by a man who went from Crips co-founder to Nobel Peace Prize nominee, author, and antigang activist" to training, mental/physical aspects of ourselves and more importantly to what we all at some point strive to achieve, a sense of perfection or serenity. Check it out.

Soul Khan - Soul Like Khan (Official Video)

Soul Khan - Soul Like Khan (Official Video)

This was one of this dopest tracks at the end of his FreeEP "Soul Like Khan" which I recommend you get. Can't wait to see what the next album is like.

TRAINING DAY CLIP

Watch It Wednesday - FAT HEAD

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT RECOMMEND FAST FOOD FOR THESE DIETS

So I'm sure everyone has heard about the MAJOR documentary of 2004 - SUPER SIZE ME, if you havent...click here which aided in McDonalds getting rid of the Super Size option.

Basically the "film follows a 30-day period from February 1 to March 2, 2003 during which he eats only McDonald's food. The film documents this lifestyle's drastic effects on Spurlock's physical and psychological well-being, and explores the fast food industry's corporate influence, including how it encourages poor nutrition for its own profit."

"As a result, the then-32-year-old Spurlock gained 24½ lbs. (11.1 kg), a 13% body mass increase, a cholesterol level of 230, and experienced mood swings, sexual dysfunction, and fat accumulation to his liver. It took Spurlock fourteen months to lose the weight gained from his experiment with a special vegan diet supervised by his future wife who was a chef specializing in vegan dishes and gourmet."

---------------

1. Eat, Pray, Get Big!

FAT HEAD basically attacks the premise of SUPER SIZE ME pointing out that the "author intentionally consumed an average of 5,000 calories per day and did not exercise, and that the results would have been the same regardless of the source of overeating."

I agree with this completely. I don't care if you're vegetarian or omnivore this rule applies. Remember this simple rule No exercise means Th

2. Why so many people labeled obese in America?

Being 6' and at 205 I was labeled OBESE in college fresh man year even though I had an athletic build and we heavily in weight lifting. It took some research to find out that Body Mass Index was flawed especially for normal people. As it was invented for athletes at Ivy League schools. Its just about as crazy as getting OBESE from being around OBESE people, I did not make it up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infectobesity

Spurlock claimed he was trying to imitate what an average diet for a regular eater at McDonald's—a person who would get little to no exercise—would do to them. Spurlock's intake of 5,000 calories per day was well over twice the recommended daily intake for a sedentary adult male, which would amount to only about 2,300 calories.[23] A typical man consuming as many calories as Spurlock did would gain nearly a pound a day (which is roughly how much Spurlock gained), a rate of weight gain that could not be sustained for long periods. Additionally, Spurlock did not demonstrate or claim that anyone, let alone a substantial number of people, eats at McDonald's three times per day. In fact McDonald's is mentioned during the movie to have two classes of users of their restaurants: There are the "Heavy Users" (about 72% of customers, who eat at their restaurants once or twice a week), and the "SUPER Heavy Users" (about 22% of customers, who eat McDonald's three or more times a week).

3. Has the FDA lied to us?

This was the most interesting part of the film to me. As it goes in depth to explain the food pyramid and causes of heart disease and cancer. Cholesterol protects you from heart attacks but often we have pharmaceutical giving us drugs treating symptoms rather than causes, which is common in modern medicine which has been compartmentalized and specialized ruling out common sesne.

So long story short...watch FAT HEAD, stay active, stay away from foods with high sugar (including soda b/c you can get diabetes even if you are thin o.O), and eat some fruits and vegetables.

peace.

Stevie Wonder - I'd Be a Fool Chopped

I thought this was a neat vid from High Water Music's newest artist Willie Evans Jr who has some stuff droppin this summer. I can't even find the original video on youtube. must be VHS. Song is from 1968 and still dope, oh well, if someone finds it, drop me a line at @dubebi.

The Voice

The Voice has finally premiered on NBC and I am OBSESSED! At first I didn't want to watch it because I felt like it was copying The X Factor (for those of you who are unaware, it is a show that Simon Cowell started in the UK and its coming to the States this summer. It follows the same basis that a singer is paired with a mentor that will help them grow. X Factor contestants/ winners you may know: Leona Lewis and Cher Lloyd)

Anyways, what I love most about this show is that the judges are turned around so they are solely judging on voice, not what a person looks like. I think I also love this show so much because it is a purely American cast, judges include Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, country singer Blake Shelton and host Carson Daly). It comes on again tomorrow at 9pm! WATCH!!

"Words to Live By"

Consequence has a new series w/ KarmaLoop TV and this weeks guest is 88 Keys. @eightyocho is my first famous follower on twitter and he's mad cool. He is currently working on a mixtape and album which as always you will be able to find right here at #JMHO. For all y'all on twitter give him a follow @eightyocho he's a real down to earth dude

FLY.UNION - TGTC

I am tooooo hype about this mixtape.. I don't know what else to say except review coming soon, DL link below

Lebron's Ep. 4

one of #JMHO favorite internet cartoons has dropped it's 4th episode.

HiiiPower

Here is Kendricks new single off of #Section80 performed live for the first time. I really want to know where Kendrick is going with this album.. He seems that he's going to be pushing the envelope with the lyrics and promotion.. The video played before the song has me very interested to see what's next.

If y'all are wondering what he was spittin before he performed HiiiPower it was "I am" interlude of the Kendrick Lamar LP, which if you don't have go take about 30 of your favorite pain killer and chug the pills down w/ some grain alcohol #die

Top Of The World

Cyhi drops some visual for one of the better songs off his mixtape Royal Flush..

SHHO & The Clipse

Believe it or not I was in the founding chapter of SHHO at VCU. I have mad respect for those dudes and they deserve all the notoriety they are getting in the commonwealth. I saw the organization go from 10 people strong to colleges dying to get a chapter. I have a certain affinity for these dudes and whenever they post some quality stuff you can be sure to catch it on #JMHO. Also check out there website www.theshho.com.

Tweets Of The Day

Since today was kind of slow when it came to music/sports/entertainment news and I didn't post anything I thought I'd post TWO of my favorite tweets of the day instead of the usual one.

The first one comes from #JMHO Favorite, Dom Kennedy who confirmed that "From The Westside with Love 2" will come out in June. I personally cannot wait for this album as I have a strong feeling that Dom is gonna drop the tape of the Summer. #fingerscrossed

My other Tweet comes from the brother of Kevin Durant, Tony Durant. In this tweet you can see the end of Tony's "secret countdown" as he called it, which was really a countdown for the number of shots Russell Westbrook had taken for the night. For anyone who watched the game it was a disappointing display of selfishness shown by Westbrook, as although he had 30 points he needed 30 shots to do it, and took SEVERAL bad shots down the stretch that hurt the Thunders chance of the sweep and the much needed rest they would've received for the next round. What was even more unnerving was the fact that KD also dropped 30 points but only needed 18 shots to do it, and hit a NUMBER of clutch shots and 3's down the stretch to bring the Thunder back into striking distance, but was not able to get the ball when it counted because of Westbrook's hero act. It will be interesting to see in the next couple rounds how this will play out because even though KD's laid back, selfless demeanor is often appreciated by fans and teammates, he cannot differ to ANYONE when it comes to taking the big shots and taking over games if the Thunder are gonna reach their potential this year. It will also be interesting to see what will happen if Russell Westbrook sees Tony D's tweets, because even though he is not a player on the team TD and KD are very close and one would wonder if this could affect chemistry down the line. I'm most likely exaggerating about tonight, and it was probably just an example of a young point guard wanting to be the MAN far too much, but this situation is definitely something for all you NBA fans to watch for in the coming weeks. haha and yes after all that rambling here is the tweet.....

(he counted Westbrook's shots from 1 to 17 before taking a break and tweeting the final count after the game was over. He also tweeted some other controversial thoughts regarding the situation, which I recommend all you NBA heads check out.)

SPRING into action

My homie and favorite radio/club DJ from the 804 just dropped this new mixtape for the Spring. Let your windows down and listen to this nice compilation of hip-hop.. SORRY in advance for the TAGS

PSN?

The Playstation Network has been down for 4 days and counting. This has been the single most disappointed I have been with Sony in the history of owning a Sony system. The thing that irritates me most is there has been no answers about what's going on. There has been a lot of speculation on the internet about what's going on, and here's what I can gather on the subject.. A clown hacker is trying to get into PSN because Sony continually drops firmwares when a hacker jailbreaks the system. By jailbreaking the system you can play burned games and you have a lot more freedom with the operating system and the capabilities of the system. I don't feel the need to jailbreak my system because I am not a hardcore gamer, but I can see why someone gamer nerd would want to. But in anger, the hacker, after getting repeatedly getting blocked from being able to find a long-term jailbreak for the system has stolen some personal information. Nobody knows how much personal information or who's information, but its someone that has PSN username. That's the story and I hope all I gave you some good tidbits here.. I'm hoping things will be back to normal real soon.. but as they say hope for the best prepare for the worst

Here's Sony's response to how long the outage will last:

SCEA: We will announce through our websites as soon as there are any updates. We are currently investigating to determine the cause of this outage and are working to restore and maintain the services. Since this is an overall security related issue, we will not be providing further commentary for this case.

eLZHi-Detroit State Of Mind

New track recently released by eLZHi off of his upcoming Elmatic mixtape which is to be released May 10th. eLZHi puts a Detroit twist on the Nas classic "New York State Of Mind." Give it a listen. Let us know what you think.

CAN I LIVE

Some more visuals from Pusha's latest mixtape.. Look out for an EP w/ some added songs dropping in June.. but till then sit back and enjoy.. for all ya'll that like pinktoes will be especially happy w/ the scenery lol

Soulja Boy Cast As Bishop For Remake of Juice; Tupac Rolls In Grave

I honestly don't know what to say. All I can say is that Soulja Boy is going to be Bishop (Tupacs Character) in the remake of Juice. Yes. You read that right. I have never seen Soulja boy act before so I can't speak on his acting skills, but if its anything like his music videos, I'll be skipping out on watching this movie. Shit, I'll probably skip out on it anyway because remakes usually aren't as good as the original and I'll be sitting through the whole movie chanting "bring Tupac back." Anyway, let us know what you think about this or if you even care.

Eminem & Royce Da 5'9 To Release EP

Well, something that probably should've happened back in the late 90s or early 2000s is about to actually happen. Royce Da 5'9 and Eminem have announced that they're releasing an EP on June 14th. I liked the "Writers Block" track they released about a month ago so I'm interested in hearing this EP. But as always, I'm cautious about two known artists collaborating together because it can either be great or a pile of trash. Here's to hoping that its dope.

Freddie Gibbs #RockBottom

Since we are about to see and most likely meet the man they call "Gangsta Gibbs" tonight at Jaxx, I thought it would only be right if I posted his latest video titled "Rock Bottom." Very cool track and very cool video, check it out.

I also included one of my favorite older tracks by Freddie titled, "In my Hood". Hoping he performs this one tonight, your boy will go nuts.

Friends.Women.Money

Dom Kennedy and Fly Union collab for this track presumably of the greater than club which is slated to drop later this month.

Wicked Awsome Records

I must've been under a rock b/c I though Cudi was still on G.O.O.D. but it seems he split. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but if he feels this gives him more creative control I'm all for it. Cudi tells us to look out for a new single from him and his band in the near future..

Thurnis Haley

Lol this shit is some crazy promo.. Goblin 5-10-11

The Bourne Legacy

The successor of the "Bourne" franchise has finally been named. Actor Jeremy Renner will be playing a new (still nameless) character who works for a covert government program.

Renner has been in movies such as "The Hurt Locker," which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor and "The Town," where he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

I don't know how I feel about them continuing these movies without Matt Damon or the original director of the first 3 "Bourne" films. But I will wait and see.

#TittiesAndCarrotCake

I've had a few people ask me what this #TittiesAndCarrotCake shit thats been on twitter is about. Well, my dude @NicholsAccomp randomly decided he was going to release a little something and that was the title he came up with for the release. He then released his first single "Thug Friends." which made it on the Tosh.0 website for review. It's a goofy video which is exactly what they went for and I figured I'd post it so you could see what #TittiesAndCarrotCake is all about. Give it a look.

Also check out his website for some hilarious posts. here

Mortal Kombat 9

I'm usually on this thing talking about music but I figured I'd talk about the new Mortal Kombat game today. That shit rules. I'm not really one for video games these days but when people kept telling me I should check out the new MK game, I figured I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did.

The story mode is the best thing I've seen in a fighting game in a LONG time. It's pretty much a long cutscene with a bunch of fights in between. You get a feel for all the characters and understand how they came to be. You also get into some of the most difficult fights I've ever encountered. All I can really say without giving too much away is fuck Shao Kahn and his dumbass hammer. Story mode isn't easy and even though I beat it (swag) I'm not confident I could do it again.

Once you beat Story Mode, there's still a lot to do. Theres a challenge tower with about 300 or so challenges (I'm in the 70s and its already getting difficult), the classic ladder fight, and of course online mode. I haven't played much online mode yet but from what I hear it's awesome.

The X-ray mode is crazy. Once your power bar gets to a certain level, you can do an X-Ray attack that shows the bones breaking and shattering. And of course, there's fatalities. AND they're the most gruesome I've ever seen in a MK game. Anything from ripping off heads, to slicing people into pieces, to classic stage fatalities like the pit and the acid bath.

In summary, the new Mortal Kombat kicks ass and I'd suggest it to anyone that was a fan of the original games or anyone that just wants a good fighting game thats better than most. Story Mode rules, the challenge tower rules, the special moves rule, the fatalities rule, and online mode rules. If you're a MK fan or just looking for a good fighting game, check this one out.

Tweet of The Night Apple Edition

Listen.. I own an Iphone 4 I have owned an Iphone 3 and a 3GS i have had at least 4 Ipods and 2 macbooks.. I am far from an apple hater.. but this shit is kinda sketch if the information is not locked down.. I understand that this MIGHT be necessary for the find my Iphone feature.. but if this information can be found by people that don't work at Apple or for reasons other than that particular service- it's sketch. I know people won't care and I will still be labeled an apple hater.. but I can't stand for this unless a better explanation is given than the arrogant tweet Steve Jobs dropped tonight.. Watch the video to understand a lil bit more of what I'm talking about

Beyonce is Back

Beyonce's new single "Run the World (Girls)" is available on itunes today! Beyonce is my favorite singer, she's beautiful, classy, and beyond talented. However... I don't Know how I feel about this single, I don't know if its an instant hit for me like "Single Ladies" was. I'm sure this will grow on me, but it has A LOT going on... sometimes less is more, B.

Kanye West at Coachella

Sit back and enjoy this legendary footage from Coachella.. I've said it once before and I'll say it again, I will be at Coachella next year.. and performances like these are the reason why.. I could sit back and pour Martin Louie the King Jr with accolades till the end but all I will say is this a must watch!

Stalley x Rick Ross

Stalley is the latest signee to Maybach Music. I must say this is a PHENOMENAL signing.. We love Lincoln Way Nights here at #JMHO and this signing is definitely a testament to Stalleys quality of music and his grind.. I am starting to respect Ricky Rozay more and more after signing Wale and now Stalley.. They aren't gangsta rappers but just make quality music and he went outside of his lane and grab 2 up and comers in the game.. I'm really looking forward to whatever project Stalley got planned next.. But until then MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMaybach Music

Tyga Feat Pharrell : First Time

This is a track of Tyga's latest mixtape called "Black Thoughts 2." I've been playing this on repeat for a good while now. Just makes me feel good man. Pharrell killed it IMO. Oh and it's produced by The Neptunes!

#CovertCoup First Impressions

Well, It's been nearly 24 hours since the much anticipated #CovertCoup was released and after a day of nonstop listening to the FREEP (I'm listening to it as I write this) all I can say is WOW.

The tape starts off hard, with the infectious track , "BBS" and continues to get stronger throughout, with a perfect finale in the previously leaked "Full Metal". While some may complain that the beats are too dark and too similar to one another, I feel like The Alchemist has set up the perfect background for Spitta Andretti to deliver some of the most crisp, thought provoking bars he may have ever spit. So far my two favorite tracks on the EP are "Smoke Break" and "Scottie Pippen" where Freddie Gibbs drops one of the illest verses on the WHOLE set. After the first 24 hours and probably about 10 good listens front to back, #CovertCoup gets the ROGG RATING of a 9.25. The ONLY things holding the EP back from receiving a 10 so far, are the fact that it only has Ten tracks (acceptable for an EP) and that I wish each song was a minute or two longer. Anyways, I would definately recommend checking out the tape, I guarantee you will enjoy it even if you aren't familar or used to the stylings of either Spitta or Alchemist. So far, I can safely that #CovertCoup is in my top 3 mixtapes/eps of the year, but we will have see if it stands the test of time, because 24 hours ain't shit when it comes to music....

Below I have posted my favorite songs so far, mentioned above....check them out..

Seeing that I posted "Scottie Pippen" the other day I also posted my 3rd Favorite song for you all, titled "The Type"...enjoy

Fabolous #TheSoulTape

We are less then 24 hours away from the release of F-A-B-O's new mixtape #TheSoulTape, and I would be lying to you if I told you I wasn't excited over this. Fab has been dropping consistently good music for a while now, and has grown into one of my favorite artists. This tape features the likes of Weezy, Trey Songz, Vado, Lloyd Banks, and a host of other stars so expect a well polished, hard hitting tape, chock full of Fab's trademark one liners and punchlines. As soon as this drops tomorrow plan on visting the site, because you know #JMHO will have all the links and info you need. Until then enjoy this album artwork, and continue the countdown.

Dead Alien Found in Syberia

I am not a conspiracy theorist. I do believe that the solar system is tooo vast for there not to be some other form of living organism. I can't say for certain if this is real, but it definitely passes the initial eyeball test. What do y'all think

Tupac From Jail

I saw this on Netflix not too long ago, and to say the least the interview is powerful. We will never have a rapper that is so openly down for the community that he is from. I am not saying I always agreed with his message but for the most part I believe his intentions were good. Please take the time out to watch this impactful documentary from arguably the best rapper of all time..Shoutout to Bossip for the video

War Stories

A little more music as we get closer to the KRIT concert this weekend. Here is Self Scientific feat Big KRIT and the cut is called War Stories..

DJ Quik-Love Of My Life

Off of DJ Quik's new album "The Book Of David" (released yesterday), is his new single/video "Love Of My Life." Check it out.

Random Axe-The Hex

For those that don't know, Random Axe is a group containing Black Milk, Guilty Simpson, and Sean Price. Their album is slated for release on June 14th. Judging by Sean Price's tweets (@SeanMandela) he doesn't seem to be happy with the album cover so we'll see what happens with that. But for now, check out the leaked track "The Hex."

SMH

Nickelus F is a Richmond VA legend.. He has been on steady grind over the past few years and just recently dropped Yellow Gold.. He's ready to release his 2nd mixtape of the year entitled Faces. SMH is the first leak off the upcoming tape.. This is a little more upbeat than Nicks usual selections, but I can see this getting bumped down in the 804 clubs heavy..

Tweet Of The Day Part 2

I know Sledge already put up one of the tweets of the day but I had to show love to my boy and one of our BIGGEST supporters, Mick Boogs. Boogs, who has always been like a little brother to me got in a mild skirmish with the law a while back and tonight at midnight was finally released from house arrest. Big ups to that man Micky Rozay, live it up tonight for 4/20 and for the rest of your life..

Curren$y x The Alchemist #CovertCoup

Thanks to the always generous Spitta Andretti, everyone is getting an EARLY gift this Kushmas morning, with the release of "Covert Coup". Fortunately, I was able to sneak onto Datpiff right before it got too crowded/crashed and was able to get this baby downloaded. My plan tonight is to give it a couple listens and hopefully let you all know my thoughts and first impression within the hour. If you all don't see me post anything tonight definitely be on the lookout early tomorrow and throughout the week as you can expect all of us here at #JMHO to give a thorough listen and report on this much anticipated album.

Now excuse me while I put on my headphones, pour myself a little Simply Lemonade and open up my Kushmas present.

gotta love this album artwork...

Curren$y

I'm so hype about this tape dropping in 10 minutes I can barely contain myself. I gotta wake up in less than 5 hours but I'll have this highly anticipated tape blasting through my speakers so I'll manage.. Here's a 10 minute video to watch of the JET LIFERS kickin it and spittin bars..

After watching this video.. I have realized there was absolutely no reason to post this lol.. #covertcoupe

Rick Ross X Lil Wayne

We posted the song "If I Die Today" earlier in the month and the visuals are now here..

The DOTR Presents: Lil Wayne - John Ft Rick Ross (Music Video) from The DOTR on Vimeo.

Tweet of the Day

This is something new we're trying on #JMHO.. Since twitter is how we connect w/ our blog followers as well as breaking news from artists we thought it'd be cool to have a "tweet of the day."

Wale was frying people on twitter tonight and here's one of my favorites lol.. this is just a tidbit of what he did so go check his TL for some good laughs

Dr Dre & Kendrick Lamar

The Dr is working on Kendricks next album and I couldn't be happier. There are few rappers I wish would recieve more notoriety than K Dot. He has put in an incredible grind with such attention to detail on every verse. A lot of industry heavyweights have taken notice, its time for the rest of y'all to get hip to it. #section80 coming soon

Glory

Oh hey there Ryan Leslie! Me and my brother were talking about how much we loved him rapping on Kanye's "Christian Dior Denim Flow" and I'm beyond happy to have seen this today!

Returnof4eva Tour Ep.2

Me, DJ Occur, and Rizzle will be in the building this Saturday when KRIT comes to our hometown of Springfield VA. We are working feverishly to get our first interview with a major artists. Worst case scenario we'll have some good footage, and some signed copies of his last two mixtapes. Until then check out this video chronicling the life on the road during his Returnof4eva tour.

Carter IV

The Carter IV has been pushed back to an unannounced date in June. Don't have much to say except the cover geeks me out a little bit. Still waiting on the ever important official tracklisting.

Free Films - Gas Hole (2010)

"Gas Hole is a new documentary film about the history of oil prices and the future of alternative fuels. Narrated by Peter Gallagher, the film features a wide range of viewpoints including the US Department of Energy. "

My review is coming soon.

Pauly D signs w/ G-Unit

The rumor has finally been confirmed, Today on Shade 45 XM radio. DJ Whoo Kid, a member of G-unit, made a semi-official announcement on the station. I am still looking for audio to post, but until then you're going to have to take my word for it. I think this is a great signing for profitability for 50. I don't know much about the techno/rave scene but I do know people flock when Pauly D's in the nations capital. Only time will tell how this union works out.

The Lebrons Episode 2 and 3

Some haters have called the Lebron cartoons corny, and just another shameless PR stunt by Lebron, but I actually fuck with these cartoons on some real shit. The animation is good, the music is catchy, and there are some funny cartoon moments. I posted episode 2&3 here and the man, DJ Occur posted episode 1 earlier this month if you want to start from the beginning. If you have a few minutes to kill these lil cartoon shorts are definitely worth a watch.

Old School Track Of The Day: AZ x SWV- Hey AZ

You gotta love an underground legend like AZ. He is one of the dudes who never really made it MADE IT and to this day it still doesn't make any sense why. His debut album DOE or DIE is in my mind one of the top 10 hip hop albums of all time, (Yea I said all time) and his other discs were never worse then solid...it's funny how the game works sometimes.. I STILL have my fingers crossed that the Nas/AZ collabo disc will one say see the light of day, but that one has been in the "works" since the mid 2000's so I doubt we'll ever see that reunion. Anyways, clink the link, enjoy this beautiful summer jam, and get memorized by my man AZ's talent.

Remembering Guru

Note: I'm leaving the Solar issue out of this post.

As I'm sure most of you know, today is the one year anniversary of the legendary Guru's passing. But for those that don't know, he was one half of the legendary GangStarr alongside DJ Premier. GangStarr was the first group that introduced me to underground hip-hop and will always be one of my favorite groups of all time. If I could post every GangStarr song I liked, this post would probably make your browser explode. So, heres a few I fuck with.

Randomess: Synathesia

Imagine you could see music as colors or taste sounds. I know someone with this ability and its really interesting to hear about. Check it out.

Soul Khan

Through the good works of Ricky Shabazz and the Boombap Boyz production company. I was fortunate to come across Soul Khan, a young brother with enough bravado to shake up the game. He is well known in the battle rap realm, GrindTime etc and its JMHO that he is a rap dragon. I won't say I know much about battle rap but I can say one thing for sure minus racial epithets that most rappers rely on, it is an art and I think Khan is one of the few that represents that truthfully.

I hope to have a little more on Khan before the week is out and maybe a short short interview if he's willing.
Soul Khans Website
Hit him up on twitter @_soulkhan wish him a happy born day.

But check it out below my two faves. I know you can find part 2.

Major Pain

I fuck w/ Chamillionare.. My cuzzin Willie put me on way back in 03 to shit like this

This was really the beginning of me bumping the chop & screw and I haven't stopped since. Chamillionare doesn't really sound like he does in the above freestyle, but he had ARGUABELY the best verse on the KRIT tape so that deserves some respect. I'll def be posting a review for this sometime next week. I'm not expecting much, but I'm excited to see whats in store.

More Dom Kennedy, More From the Westside With Love 2 Talk

I feel like all I've done on this site is post up Dom Kennedy videos and tracks, but when a dude is this dope, why the fuck not? Peep this interview, and educate yourself.

1st Weekend Playoff Podcast

Man I rushed this out so I could get it done before 7pm, and the opening game for tonight. You know I gotta give my undivided attention to the hoops.. I dropped a few opinions on the game. Basically it was a love fest for all the great basketball that we were blessed with this weekend. Me and the homie Rizzle said way back in September this was gonna be the best season in recent memory- and i don't see any fault in that bold prediction.

1st weekend MVP's: Chris Paul and Dwight Howard (despite loss)
MVLEAST: Pau Gasol

What's good w/ it?

Dope Projects - SOIL - The Warrior Lessons

"If you only had a few seconds to share wisdom with your seedz, what would you choose to say? "
Home Page of the Soil Project

I have to give a shoutout to Senor Kaos for doing this.
I stumbled across this last year and to this day the words of wisdom dropped on this project ring in my ears. I recommend everyone to listen it and I'm 100% sure there is a gem for everyone. I know it is not close to Fathers Day but everyday is a day to be thankful.

Drop a line.
What would you say to your seeds?

XV x Pusha T- Awesome (Remix)

Unfortunately because I was traveling the last week and a half, I was unable to check out the new XV tape "Zero Heroes" until today. Thankfully, as can be expected from most of the material Vizzy has released, it has blown me away and has been bumpin out of my speakers all day.

The track I have posted, "Awesome",was one of my favorite tracks on XV's debut mixtape, EVERYBODYS NOBODY and I was very happy to see it redone and remixed for the new tape with the help of VA's own Pusha T. Definitely give this track a listen, it's the definition of feel good music.

More Covert Coup- Curren$y X Freddie Gibbs: Scottie Pippen

I was originally gonna wait til 4/20 to listen to all the songs Spitta had leaked from Covert Coup, but each song he and the Alchemist have dropped have been sooo fuckin ill it's literally been impossible. This track "Scottie Pippen" also was tough for me to pass over because it features one of the dopest unknown MCs in the game right now, Freddie Gibbs, whose mixtape to Str8 Killa No Filla was one of my top 10 of 2010. DEFINITELY give this man a listen if you are a fan of harder, darker hip hop.

Also for those that are interested, this Saturday April the 23rd, Freddie Gibbs will be performing at Jaxx Nightclub in Springfield VA along with #JMHO favorites, Big Krit and Smoke DZA. If you decide to go, come say what's up, cuz you know your boy will be there in the flesh.

New Cole Verse

Here's a new Cole verse he spit last night in the Nations Capital.. Any Cole verse is welcome on #JMHO

George Carlin: You have NO rights

George Carlin is far from my favorite comedian, but he has some good points in this clip. This is very controversial at some points, and I do not endorse the whole spiel, but I'm certain you can take something a way from this. As a gentleman that just had a minor bout with the law, I completely agree with the section about law enforcement. If you got 9+ minutes and see what y'all think..

214! That's how many dunks rookie Blake Griffin had this season. You can watch every single rim rattling throw down right here..

Designer Shit Live

I'm posting this because last week when CDC dropped I asked for a video for Designer Shit.. Here Dom is live at NC A&T performing the song and announcing a video is dropping real soon.. like they say you ask and you shall receive

Badu at Cochella

I fuck with Neo-Soul heavy. That's why I'm posting this over a lot of rap videos I have seen of rap acts at this legendary festival. You MUST put in headphones or put this through speakers, because the computer speakers just don't do this music justice. I really hope they make live CD's of these performances, but this is the next best thing. Great way to start of a soothing Saturday of NBA hoops and beer..

Scream 4

Scream 4 comes out this Friday, and the folks over at moviefone put together a kill compilation from the previous 3 movies. Not a bad way to get ready for the next installment.

Berto vs. Ortiz

Andre Berto vs Victor Ortiz tonight in a welterweight title bout. I personally believe Berto will retain his title. Ortiz has a suspect chin (Marcus Maidana fight) and Berto packs a powerful punch and a lethal uppercut. Here are some greatest hits from both fighters..

UPDATE
That was a hell of a fight and both fighters showed the heart of a champion. Victor Ortiz prevailed in the end with a unanimous victory. I was completely shocked by the outcome and I have no qualms about being a huge Berto fan. I witnessed a few suspect wins against inferior competition, and small margin victories against foes he should have trampled in the past. However, I bought in to the hype and thought he was going to be next up to fight Pacquiao or Mayweather. I was wrong and hopefully he can learn from this loss. He has a contract w/ HBO so that guarantees a few more high profile fights. Here's to hoping he get's a rematch with Ortiz.

When it comes to Ortiz I am so shocked by this performance. The fight had 4 knockdowns and he was responsible for 2 of them. The first knockdown was in the 1st round and he didn't let up from the initial bell. He earned his respect back from me after quitting against Maidana. He has heart, and even though I was justified in questioning his testicular fortitude, I assure you I will never do that again. This fight will not win fight of the year, but I do believe round 6 was round of the year.

You are doing yourself a huge disservice if you do not watch the replay of this fight next week on HBO. Look for some more coverage of this fight including post fight interviews on this very post throughout the week.

Stussy X Random X Addidas

I just coped the 7's earlier this morning and I already have my eyes on the next pair that will be getting added to the collection. This is a smooth loafer that fit in well w/ my ever maturing wardrobe. Don't get me wrong I'll forever be a sneakerhead but loafers like this are too fresh to pass on..

CRYING

A lot of talk has been circulating about grown men crying since the Miami Heat 6 game losing streak this year. To me crying has limitations. If you are crying about pure passion or pain I respect that. If you are crying because you are a simple bitch, you get no respect from #JMHO. Tom Brady broke down this week when talking about the weakest point in his life, which I respect. I recently had the lowest point of my life within the past few months and it brings tears to my eyes. THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME A PUSSY. What makes a man a lil dick is...

This is an example of love, passion, intensity, and strength

There is a fine line and I have tried to draw it within this post. I hope y'all understand the difference between real dude and a bitch ass mofo . If you can't-stop reading my posts, simple as that.

XV - Zero Hero's Mixtape

XV is one of the glaring omissions in the XXL Freshman list for 2011. He signed a major label deal with Warner after dropping 30 minute layover which was a great mixtape in it's own right. XV is just an average Midwestern kid that likes porn and plays video game. Honestly, his upbringing is not much different than mine lol. With that said I have a little doubt this mixtape will have some quality music on it.

JUDAS

Okay Lady GaGa fans, Judas is here! I LOVE IT!!! Obviously its going to be a big dance hit, it has an 80's vibe and an awesome beat. It was produced by RedOne who produced a lot of songs off of "The Fame"

A lot of people said what they liked most about Judas is that they liked it immediately unlike Born This Way. But BTW has always been my jam, so I don't know what I feel about that argument.

What do you think about Judas?

Main Source-Breaking Atoms

As some of you have probably noticed by now, I tend to post a lot about old school hip-hop. I do it because I feel that to truly appreciate a genre of music, you have to know its history. So todays mini history lesson will be about Main Source and their first album "Breaking Atoms." (released 1991)

Main Source consisted of Large Professor, Sir Scratch, & K-Cut (although Large Pro left later and was replaced by Mikey D) This album is considered a cult classic by many for good reason. Not only is it a great album, it also contains some of the greatest beats done by Large Professor (who also raps on the entire thing) AND contains what I believe is the first appearance by Nas.

If you don't know who Large Professor is, check out his production credits. He's done beats for a lot of artists including Eric B & Rakim, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Busta Rhymes, AZ, Organized Konfusion, Joell Ortiz, and many many more. Anyway, lets get to the album

One of the things that made this album so great was, like De La Soul's 3 Feet High & Rising and Beastie Boys-Pauls Boutique, the use of a wide array of samples. What makes this album even more important though is that some of the samples used later became some of the most used samples in hip-hop.

Check out their single "Just Hanging Out" I'm sure some of you have heard that horn sample before.

And like I said before, I'm pretty sure this album is the first time Nas appears on record. He appears on the track "Live At The BBQ"

Then there's their biggest hit "Looking At The Front Door"

And the DJs even get a chance to shine on the laid back smooth cut "Scratch & Kut."

Of course I'd go to hip-hop hell if I didn't mention the classics "Peace Is Not The Word To Play" & "Just A Friendly Game Of Baseball." The latter being one of the more serious pieces on the album.

Anyway, if you want to check out a hip-hop album from the early 90s that has been unfairly pushed into cult-status, definitely check out "Breaking Atoms." If you have a true love for hip-hop, there is a very good chance you'll LOVE this album.
